Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Coming to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in late 2024 is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.  This all new attraction is based on the 2009 hit Disney movie, “The Princess and the Frog“.

The story behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up where the movie left off where Tiana creates her own business known as “Tiana’s Foods”.  She purchases an old salt mine and with the help of some of her friends & family, develops it into a teaching kitchen that includes a vegetable & herb garden to grows her fresh ingredients.

As Tiana and her friends prepare for an upcoming Mardi Gras celebration, they notice that they are missing a key ingredient in their recipe.  As a result Tiana and her guests board a boat to make a trek into the bayou for an exciting adventure, meeting a number of new friends along the way.

Riders will enjoy seeing some of their favorite characters from the movie including the enchanting Mama Odie, Eudora, Charlotte, “Big Daddy”, Louis, Prince Naveen, the King & Queen of Maldonia and Price Ralphie.  The attraction also features some of the music from The Princess and the Frog as well as some new songs that were created for this ride.

At this time height restrictions have yet to be formally announced but we anticipate that it to be for children 40 inches or greater.  The ride is also expected to be fairly moderate in nature with just one “drop” near the end of the ride (see Splash Mountain video below).

While no formal announcement has been made to date, many Walt Disney World observers foresee that a new Tiana themed restaurant will be coming to the Frontierland area in the near future (does than mean it will no longer be Frontierland???).  Coming soon to Disneyland in California is Tiana’s Palace which will be a highly themed eatery that will “expand on many of the current favorites served in the location, explore seasonal flavors, and, of course, offer some New Orleans classics.”

So with the addition of Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland, should we expect an announcement soon for the Magic Kingdom? Be sure to check back soon for more updates on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Reimagining Splash Mountain

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be situated on the former Splash Mountain attraction which closed permanently on January 22, 2023.  Splash Mountain was the original “log flume” type ride based on the story and music from the 1946 Disney classic “Song of the South“.

Splash Mountain originally opened at the Magic Kingdom in October 1992 and featured Br’er Rabbit leaving home and being chased by Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear.  The ride included 45- degree, 52 foot drop where riders fall at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.

While we will miss the drop as well as hearing the “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” song, the Endless Summer family will always treasure the memories of our many rides on this classic attraction.
