According to meeting and event provider Cvent, Orlando ranks among the top for meeting and event destinations besting cities like Las Vegas, Miami, San Diego and Washington DC. The Orange County (Orlando) Convention Center is the second largest convention facility in the United States totaling 7 million square feet of space with 70 meeting rooms, 226 breakout rooms and a 62,182 square foot ballroom.

Not only is the convention center a great place to hold meetings and events, but the greater Orlando area is home to a number of convention hotels.  These amazing properties feature both extensive meeting and event facilities and outstanding amenities include pools and water parks, golf courses and full-service spas.

In this article we are going to review our opinion of the 15 best Orlando area convention hotels.

The Hyatt Regency Orlando

The Hyatt Regency Orlando is one of the best quality convention hotels along International Drive and was ranked as the “#1 Convention Property in Florida” for five years in a row by CVENT. The property consists of 1,641 rooms in two tower buildings that feature an array of amenities including two resort pools, a 24-hour fitness center and on-site spa.   

Convention space is extensive with 315,000 square feet of newly renovated indoor & outdoor meeting and event space including five pillar-free ballrooms, more than 50,000 square feet of outdoor space and 105 breakout rooms.  The largest space is the 54,638 square foot Regency Ballroom that can host up to 4,000 guests. In addition to the on-site space, the Hyatt Regency has three bridges that provide direct access to all concourses at the Orlando County Convention Center.

The Hilton Orlando

Just adjacent to the north-south concourse of the Orange County Convention Center is the Hilton Orlando.  Built on 26-acres, this AAA Four Diamond Award winning hotel features 1,416 room with amenities including zero entry resort pool with splash pad and separate quiet pool, lazy river with waterfalls, 24-hour fitness center and on site spa.

Meeting and event space consists of three pillarless ballrooms totaling 95,000 square feet, 42 individual meeting rooms and nine boardrooms.  The total amount of function space is 249,000 square feet and the largest meeting room consists of 42,128 square feet.  There is also 50,000 square feet of outdoor multi-use space that can accommodate up to 3,000 guests. The Hilton also features a covered open air walkway connections to the Orange County Convention Center.

The Rosen Shingle Creek

Less than five minutes from the Orange County Convention Center is the Rosen Shingle Creek.  This 1,501 room resort sits on 255 acres which includes an 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed golf course. Amenities include four heated pools, nature trails, basketball / tennis / volleyball courts and the 13,000 square foot full-service Spa at Shingle Creek.

With 524,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Rosen Shingle Creek features the largest amount of convention space in the area.  There are 74 meeting rooms that are capable of holding more than 20,000 guests and the largest pillar-free ballroom features 95,000 square feet of space on one floor.  Outdoor space is also extensive with 136,000 square feet of flexible space.  CVENT ranked this hotel as a top 20 US meeting hotel.

The Rosen Centre® Hotel

Right next to the west concourse of the Orange County Convention Center is the Rosen Centre® Hotel which features 1,324 guestrooms including 80 suites. Hotel amenities include a resort pool with two hot tubs, a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center and The Spa at Rosen Center.  Guests also have access to the Single Creek Golf Club at the nearby Rosen Shingle Creek hotel.

The Rosen Center Hotel consists of 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space including a 35,000 square foot Grand Ballroom, an 18,000 square foot Executive Ballroom and a 14,448 square foot Junior Ballroom.  There are also 35 separate meeting rooms including two 3,000 square foot Signature Meeting rooms and 24 Mezzanine meeting rooms.  The hotel also features a covered skywalk that connects to the west concourse of the Orange County Convention Center.

JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes

One of the most upscale properties on this list is the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.  This amazing 1,000 room resort sites on a 500-acre site that is shares with the Ritz-Carlton Orlando and Marriott’s Grande Vista vacation club property.  Amenities are extensive and include a 24,000 square foot lazy river pool with beach entry, an AquaCourse 360, eco tours, a mountain biking path, an on-site 18 hole championship golf course and the 40,000 square foot Ritz-Carlton Spa.

Located approximately 10 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 144,785 square feet of event space with 47 event rooms and 41 breakout rooms.  The resort conference facilities can accommodate up to 3,200 guests.  There are a variety of terraces, lawn space and outdoor venues available including an 11,000 square foot space that abuts the resorts private farm.

Orlando World Center Marriott

One of our favorite hotels on this list is the massive 2.009 room Orlando World Center Marriott.  Amenities are extensive and include the massive Falls Pool Oasis featuring a zero-entry pool, children’s splash pad, 90-foot water speed slide and two 200-foot winding water slides.  New as of Springs 2022 is the River Falls water park which features a waterslide tower with three inner tube flume water slides as well as a lazy river.  The resort also features an on-site 18 hole championship golf course, 24-hour fitness center and full-service space.

Located adjacent to Walt Disney World and 10 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 338,306 square feet of event space with 74 individual event rooms.  The largest pillar-free ballroom is the 105,000 square foot Cypress Ballroom and there is extensive outdoor venues that can accommodate up to 3,000 guests.  As of mid-2022, the Orlando World Center Marriott will add an additional 40,000 square feet of convention space, further expanding the resorts capabilities.

Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek

Recently re-branded as the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, this resort is immediately adjacent to Walt Disney World and shares amenities, dining facilities, parking and a convention center with the  adjacent 498-room Waldorf Astoria Orlando. Amenities include a three-acre swimming pool complex with lazy river and water slide, 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, free Disney theme park transportation & benefits, access to the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club & the Waldorf Astoria Spa and organized activities for children.

This 1,001 resort features approximately 175,000 square feet of convention and event space with 40 individual meeting rooms and four boardrooms.  The largest pillar-free ballroom is the 35,925 square foot Bonnet Creek Ballroom followed by the 27,300 square foot Floridian Ballroom.  There is also extensive outdoor multiuse function space.

The Gaylord Palms Orlando Resort & Convention Center

Just recently expanded in 2021, the Gaylord Palms Orlando Resort & Convention Center is one of the most unique hotels on our list.  With 1,718 rooms and 106 suites surrounding 4.5 acres of indoor highly themed atriums, this resort is one of the leading convention hotels in the Orlando area.  Amenities include the Cypress Springs Water Park and the Crystal River Rapids, a 24-hour fitness center and the 25,000 square foot Relache Spa.

Located just outside of Walt Disney World and approximately 15 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 462,296 square feet of event space with 72 individual event rooms for a total capacity of more than 10,000 attendees.  The largest pillar-free ballroom is the 48,505 square foot Osceola Ballroom with features a 42 x 96 foot stage with both dressing and green rooms.  Outdoor event space is also extensive and highlighted by the 14,000 square foot Coquina Lawn.

The Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort

Situated within the Walt Disney World Resort within walking distance to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort might have the best location of any hotel on our list.  Amenities at this 1,514 room resort are extensive and include five heated pools, a white sandy beach, a fully equipped fitness center and 10,500 square foot full service spa.

Along with it’s sister property the Walt Disney World Swan Resort, the two hotels feature more than 333,000 square feet of meeting and event space with four ballrooms, 87 meeting rooms and multiple outdoor event areas.  There is also 110,599 square feet of contiguous convention and exhibit space available.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Located on-site at the Walt Disney World Resort just within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom theme park is Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This newly renovated resort features 650 guest rooms including 50 concierge-level rooms and 23 suites.  Amenities are extensive and include a resort pool with water slide and splash pad, a quiet pool, lakefront marina, theme park transportation and on-site fitness center.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort features 115,000 square feet of flexible event and meeting space with 33 breakout rooms.  The 42,336 square foot Fantasia ballroom can accommodate up to 4,720 guests and the 11,968 square foot Ballroom of the Americas features a permanent 29 foot stage.  There is also an expansive 24-person boardroom with oval marble-top conference table.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

The largest Walt Disney World convention hotel is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  This 2,416 room on-site resort is an ideal location for meetings that have an association with Disney.  Amenities include four outdoor pools, walking trail, two fitness centers and complimentary transportation throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort features 222,000 square feet of flexible event and meeting space including the 85,765 square foot Veracruz Exhibit Hall.  The 60,214 Coronado Ballroom can accommodate more than 6,000 guests and the adjacent 21,160 square foot Fiesta Ballroom can accommodate approximately 2,500.  In addition to the ballrooms and exhibit space, there is also 3,000 square foot of meeting space and an all new 24-person boardroom in the Gran Destino Tower.

Loews Sapphire Falls Resort

One of our favorite on-site hotels at the Universal Orlando Resort is the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.  This 1,000-room property is one of Universal’s mid-tier “Preferred Hotels & Resorts” and features a 16,000 square foot resort pool with water slide, fully equipped fitness center and a host of theme park benefits (unfortunately complimentary Universal Express passes are not one of them).

Located approximately 15 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 115,000 square feet of event space with two large ballrooms (41,000 square feet and 30,000 square feet), 16 meeting rooms, three meeting planner offices and 36,000 square feet of pre-function space.  There is also a dedicated registration desk and dedicated meetings entrance.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort

Another great convention hotel at the Universal Orlando Resort is the Loews Royal Pacific Resort.  This 1,000-room property is one of the three “Premier Hotels & Resorts” which represent the premium hotels at Universal. Features include a lagoon-style resort pool with water features, fully equipped fitness center and a the best array of theme park benefits (complimentary Universal Express passes are one of them).

Located approximately 15 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 132,000 square feet of event space with two large ballrooms (42,000 square feet and 36,000 square feet), 15 meeting rooms, four meeting planner offices and 25,000 square feet of pre-function space.  There is also a dedicated registration desk and dedicated meetings entrance.

Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld

The Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld is one of the more smaller hotels on our list but its features are extensive. Located across the street from SeaWorld Orlando and less than 5 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this 781-room atrium style hotel features a large resort pool, children’s splash park with water slides, a fully equipped fitness center and on-site spa.

Fully renovated in 2019/2020 with the addition of 40,000 square feet of event space, the Renaissance has a total of 210,433 square of convention and meeting space.  There are 45 individual event rooms, 72 meeting rooms, 20,000 square feet of outdoor event space and 65,000 square feet of atrium space.

Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace

The Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace features 1,012-rooms and 124 suites on an extensive 27-acre property.  This Official Walt Disney World Hotel features a resort style lazy river pool and a adult pool, fully equipped fitness center and shuttle bus service to the Disney theme parks.

Located just adjacent to Disney Springs and approximately 15 minutes to the Orange County Convention Center, this resort features 160,076 square feet of event space with 55 individual meeting rooms. The largest ballroom is the 23,016 square foot Palm Event Center followed by the 21,186 square foot Pavilion and 18,360 square foot Sabal Ballroom.  The hotel also provides access to Disney’s Entertainment and Event Production team and can arrange in-park events.
